We don't get to smile a lot
For real
I said I was gon' change that
Be the first in my family
Just cause I'm down and out
Don't mean you hold your nuts on me and count me out
Sometimes you lose but you shake back
That's what it's all about
All these voices in my head, tryna drown it out
Been goin' through those rainy days
Spend a lifetime tryna wash away
Till the sun shine and I see your face
Smile for me, smile for me
I got a blurry vision
Can't see the competition
You gotta swallow that pride and then complete the mission
All night on that corner we tryna cop J's
These niggas still got grudges back from my rock days
A lot of people got ghosts and never came back
Boys stuck in they feelings, I can't change that
Steady point fingers, really lookin' lame
Everybody can't go, now that's the price of fame
I remember we were livin' in stress
A couple of biscuits in the oven, mama doin' her best, yeah
But I'm the golden child, watch me make her smile
I was down and out and then I made it worth my while
Just cause I'm down and out
Don't mean you hold your nuts on me and count me out
Sometimes you lose but you shake back
That's what it's all about
All these voices in my head, tryna drown it out
Been goin' through those rainy days
Spend a lifetime tryna wash away
Till the sun shine and I see your face
Smile for me, smile for me
On a mission for them commas, I'm navigatin' these dramas
Trappin' in my pajamas, just a pistol and a promise
Nobody believe in your vision till it's in stone
Till you eatin' you on your own
I was readin' these niggas wrong
But that was chapters from my past life
No greater teacher than patience, I got my cash right
Plus I'm a savage, upper echelon
They was treatin' me like I'm average
You never guessed the weight of my burdens of how I carried
Embarrassed by my performance
Shit I thought was important
Too gangsta to be recorded
Niggas out here informants and I'm tryna stack my paper enormous
It's just my style
Whatever I'm goin' through, I'm gon' smile
I'ma always smile through it
Just cause I'm down and out
Don't mean you owe your nuts on me and count me out
Sometimes you lose but you shake back
That's what it's all about
All these voices in my head, tryna drown it out
Been goin' through those rainy days
Spend a lifetime tryna wash away
Till the sun shine and I see your face
Smile for me, smile for me
My partner just came home, the people gave him twenty
And I was parked outside the gate on the day he finished
My niggas say he made some lemonade, they gave him lemons
And niggas took they jersey off when we was down by fifty
My partner's ski mask and a tool, I say this ain't your business
She say the truth up in the Bible, momma's pages missin'
I thought that I could stop the hurtin' with the pills and sippin'
I'm knowin' that I deserve better than the way I'm livin'
And you can lie to everybody, you can't lie to self
This music be my cry for help, struggle tryna find myself
Wish I can call my momma now
And niggas call me out, they say he outta there
But tell him that I'm hell when I'm well and
I done caught my snaps
Ghetto
Just cause I'm down and out
Don't mean you hold your nuts on me and count me out
Sometimes you lose but you shake back
That's what it's all about
All these voices in my head, tryna drown it out
Been goin' through those rainy days
Spend a lifetime tryna wash away
Till the sun shine and I see your face
Smile for me, smile for me
I been out here a long time
And the best way that you can break they heart
Is to keep that smile on your face
Misery love company Keep smilin', it's priceless
