Once I was so burdened, deep in sin and shame
Until I sought my Savior and to me He came
Took away my burden, set my soul aflame
Giving me the victory
He gave me the victory
And now I'm free
He leads me in the road
That leads us to the blest abode
His love within my heart
It keeps me and sin apart
His I'll ever be
He gave to me the victory
Once I was a wanderer on a mountain wild
Until I met my Savior and He made me smile
Now I'm just as happy as a little child
For I have the victory
He gave me the victory
And now I'm free
He leads me in the road
That leads us to the blest abode
His love within my heart
It keeps me and sin apart
His I'll ever be
He gave to me the victory
