Book Of Days

The lyrics describe a journey shaped by hope, effort, and uncertainty. At first, the speaker imagines what the future might become. They expect to stumble and fail, but decide that neither time nor distance will stop them from trying. By the end, the imagined path has become a real journey, suggesting a shift from possibility toward experience.

The journey works both literally and as a metaphor for pursuing a dream. “One step, one fall, one falter” presents progress as uneven: mistakes are part of moving forward, not proof that the journey has ended. “Far and away” suggests a distant place or goal, while the repeated image of crossing an ocean makes change feel vast and demanding. The “book of days” can be understood as the story built from the speaker’s choices and experiences.

The ending is hopeful, but not completely certain. “This day ends together” may mean that the journey reaches a shared destination, or that the speaker finds connection along the way; the lyrics do not explain who “together” refers to. The Gaelic lines appear to continue the journey’s themes, but the English lyrics alone do not settle their precise meaning. Overall, the song can be read as an invitation to keep going without knowing exactly where the path will lead.
