Lyrics
Let's call it what it isโ
Selective hearing
'Cause she been talking
But y'all ain't listenin'
Like a 21st-century Late Antiquityโ
You never knew
So you act like this is new
But this ain't nothin' new
This formed for centuries
From a darker hue
Packaged and reassembled
To appease another view
The Black print you've learned fromโ
And occasionally pay dues
The shade that rarely gets the accolades
Who challenges what you thought you knew
You act like this is new
But this ain't nothin' new
You only listen when she speaks your languageโ
Within your metrics
Within your fashion
You call it evolution... ten years too late
Then call living in the "future"
An acquired taste
(Watermelon, anyone?)
I am the anomaly
You loooove to hate
Violate
Dissemble
Mitigate
Bring in the curves
Smooth out the curlsโ
If you can't conform
They comin' for you
You act like this is new
But this ain't nothin' new
