Hear this, all peoples
Give ear, all inhabitants of the world
Both low and high, rich and poor together
My mouth will speak wisdom
These thoughts from deep within my heart will give understanding
I'll listen closely to a proverb
I'll solve this great mystery
To the music of the lyre
Why should I fear in days of evil
When the sin of all my foes surrounds me?
Those who trust in their power
And those who boast in their abundant riches
Truly no man can ransom another
Nor give the price of his life to God
Redemption of his life is costly
He can never pay enough
That he should live on forever
And never see the grave
For he sees that even the wise die
Just like the fool and senseless man
They all leave their wealth to others
Their grave is their home forever
Their dwelling place to all generations
Though they called lands by their own names
Man in his pomp will not endure
He is like the beasts that perish
Man in his pomp will not last long
He is like the beasts that perish
This is the path of those who have foolish confidence
Still, after them, people approve of their boasts
Just like sheep, they're led into the grave
Death will be their shepherd
The righteous will rule over them
When the morning comes
Their beauty will decay in Sheol
No mansion to live in
But God will ransom my soul from the power of the grave
God will ransom my soul from the power of the grave
For He will receive me
He will receive me
He will receive me
He will receive me
But God will ransom my soul from the power of the grave
God will ransom my soul from the power of the grave
He will receive me
He will receive me
He will receive me
He will receive me
Be not afraid when a man becomes rich
When the glory of his house increases
For when he dies, he'll carry nothing away
His glory will not follow him down
Though while he lives, he thinks he's blessed
Though you are praised when you succeed
His soul will go where his fathers went
Who will never again see light
Man in his pomp, yet without understanding
Is like the beasts that perish
Man in his pomp, yet without understanding
Is like the beasts that perish
Man in his pomp, yet without understanding
Is like the beasts that perish
But God will ransom my soul from the power of the grave
