Lyrics
Well we've been traveling up and down 'cross the country
Trying to find a place where we could be playing
What we play best for guaranteed
But all these ladies and their gentlemen walked out on us
And didn't give a damn and said there ain't
No place for a country band around here
So we just quit and hit the road with a heavy load to a better place
Then we stopped at a little club called the Ace of Spades
And we played the little fiddle and a hipster the wiggle wiggle
But it soon was quite clear there ain't
No room for a country band right here
But baby never, never, never say never
The table's gonna turn for you
Yeah, the best is yet to come to those who can wait
So hang in there and we'll set the record straight
So we put some coins into the jukebox and we listened to the songs
On the radio up and down the country to see what's on
I tell you all those singerettes and the singer men
You just hear one then you know all of them
'Cause it sounds like they all sing the same old song
So we wrote some rhymes and lines, drums and the bass
And jumped on the next freight train
'Cause we knew that our mission's not in vain
We played our asses off from Friday near for a cold meal and warm beer
But all we heard is "We don't like country music 'round here"
But baby never, never, never say never
The table's gonna turn for you
Yeah, the best is yet to come to those who can wait
So hang in there and we'll set the record straight
Well, we finally reached a place called Berlin, Mississippi
And I tell you down there it was quite freaky
And rocked the city down to the nitty gritty
We found a place to stay and a place to play
And a job well paid every night and day
Now everybody knows country music made its way
So never, never, never say never
The table's gonna turn for you
Yeah, the best is yet to come to those who can wait
So hang in there and we'll set the record straight
