Lyrics meaning

The lyrics move from a solemn-sounding warning about religious groups into a frantic, aggressive ride, then end with angry voices demanding that the band stop contacting them. This sharp shift creates a sense of disorder and confrontation. The repeated descriptions of the speaker as a vehicle suggest that the ride has taken over their body and identity, as if they are no longer fully in control.

Several images make the journey feel dangerous and unreal. โ€œHighway 666โ€ evokes evil through a familiar religious symbol, while the โ€œsinister grinโ€ on the vehicleโ€™s front blurs the line between person and machine. โ€œMy blood is pavementโ€ is an extreme metaphor: it can suggest total exhaustion, injury, or being consumed by the road. The warning that objects may look larger in a mirror hints at distorted perception, perhaps making the danger seem confusing or hard to judge.

The repeated phrase โ€œWhen you ride, youโ€™re riddenโ€ reverses the usual idea of choosing to ride: the rider may also be controlled or carried along by the machine. The destination, the Abbey of Thelema, is named but not explained, so its role remains unclear; it may simply add an ominous, ritual-like feeling. The final complaints sound like recorded messages, but whether they are meant as a joke, a parody of public reaction, or a genuine expression of irritation is ambiguous.
