I'm a slow boy, I take it easy
I poke around, I'm a little lazy
I don't get loud, I don't get shook
Sit over in the corner and write in my notebook
But I get a little excited, I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
Her shoes are broke, she wears an old dress
I don't know what it is I confess
Bags under her eyes, a weary soul
When the woman starts laughing I lose control
And I get a little excited, I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
Only thing I wanna see today
Is her face six inches away
When she ain't around, there's a lot amiss
When she plants one on me, buddy, that's a kiss
I get a little excited, I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
I go ah mm ah ha ah, she goes oh mm ah ha ah
Well life is work day to day
Not one thing is here to stay
I like to hide out when I can
I'm a Midwest boy, I'm a big dumb man
But I get a little excited, I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
I like her mind, I like her mouth
She's like a sunflower shinin' down South
I like her voice, I like her cookin'
I stare at her if she is or if she ain't lookin'
And I get a little excited, I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
I get a little excited, oh I get a little excited
I get a little excited when my darling comes around
