I met a mister from Margarita
And he wanted to take me to dinner
I said, "Dinner will be fine
But now is Christmas time
And my table is well prepared
So I'll take you to my home instead."
I give him bread and ham together with a pastelle
Ginger beer, punch-a-creme and sorrel
A glass of local wine went to his head
He turned to me and said
"Oh yes, Trini Christmas is the best!"
It's the best, it's the best
Trini Christmas is the best
It's the best, it's the best!
Then my big sister asked me to 'cantar'
And we 'canta'd just for him to 'bailar'
He said, "Parang music's sweet
And I love the soca beat."
Dancing like if he going insane
Then he asked for more food again
I give him bread and ham together with a pastelle
Ginger beer, punch-a-creme and sorrel
A glass of local wine went to his head
He turned to me and said
"Oh yes, Trini Christmas is the best!"
It's the best, it's the best
Trini Christmas is the best
It's the best, it's the best!
Baila, baila, baila!
I tell my visitor, "Come meet my Mama
My husband, my children, my Papa."
He was on a Christmas high
But finally he said goodbye
When I thought he was leaving for sure
He sit down to eat some more
I give him bread and ham together with a pastelle
Ginger beer, punch-a-creme and sorrel
A glass of local wine went to his head
He turned to me and said
"Oh yes, Trini Christmas is the best!"
Is the best, is the best
Trini Christmas is the best
Is the best, is the best!
