Hello
Ah, my friend of the paints and pencils, Mrs. Brown
And Mrs. Budd
My dear old pal
And hello, Paddington
Have we met before?
Perhaps in a distant memory
There's so many things here
Don't touch!
No, no, no, no, he's only curious, go on
Put your paws on this
Stick your snout in that
Though it may look old or dirty
Everything you find is one of a kind
Every single object has a journey
What is it?
An old soap tin?
Look closer
This tin has been on a tremendous adventure
First inside was lavender soap
Then my Nana kept her pennies in it
Then can you guess what my Mama used it for?
What?
Love trinkets from my Papa
But its greatest adventure was to travel all the way here from Hungary
In my pocket when I was six years old
Because of the war
I was searching for a new home
And you found one in London
Eventually, though it took some time
My soap tin and I may have come first
But my heart took much longer to arrive
What do you keep in the tin, Mr. Gruber?
A photograph
Of my Mama and Papa, the only one I have
So you see, it may look like an old tin to you
But to me it is everything
It takes more than a glance to see the history
Stick with me and you'll see lost get found
And now it is for you
Keep something special in it
What about the photograph of all of us in Windsor Gardens?
That's perfect
Thank you
