Time For Livin'

The lyrics sound like a lively call to focus on living and giving rather than wasting time. The repeated refrain gives the song an urgent, almost celebratory energy. The speaker says that people do not need to shout or explain everything: they can see and hear what is happening. Still, the tone is forceful, as if the speaker is ready to raise their voice when necessary.

“Set the record straight” means to correct a misunderstanding or make the truth clear. The line about not “making up a monster to sell” suggests inventing a frightening story for profit, while “a lie to sell” points more directly to dishonesty used to persuade or benefit someone. “Soul fire” may suggest strong inner energy or passion. The following image of having no water could imply thirst or lack, though it may also work simply as a striking contrast.

The lyrics can be read as a rejection of manipulation and needless noise, paired with a positive call to live generously. But they do not explain exactly who is being criticized or what the “monster” represents. The repeated phrases and vivid images leave room for the song to feel both like a social warning and a burst of spirited encouragement.
