Every Kinda People

The lyrics present a broad, hopeful view of what makes life and society work. They begin with people struggling to earn a living and remain honest, then widen to include those guided by duty or belief. The mood is encouraging: despite differences and conflict, people share basic needs, and love is offered as a path toward peace.

“Make ends meet” means to earn just enough to pay for necessities; the song connects this everyday struggle with dignity and perseverance. The image of the world “going round” suggests that society depends on many kinds of people, not just one group. “Revenge does not taste sweet” is a figurative way of saying retaliation may feel satisfying at first but does not bring lasting happiness.

The lyrics explicitly say that people of different racial backgrounds are “the same inside,” while also recognizing that they may hold different loyalties and beliefs. The line about wanting “the sunshine in his name” is less clear: it may suggest a shared wish for recognition, happiness, or a good future. The song’s message is idealistic, but it does not claim that differences disappear; rather, it suggests that compassion and honesty can help people live together.
