Down by the river by the old oak tree
This fishin' woman, she cast a spell on me
Her big brown eyes put my head in a spin
She threw her line out, boy, and she reeled me in
No matter what I say, no matter what I do
She got me hooked on her catfish stew
Oh, yeah
Oh, she knew I was a hungry man
She melted butter in an old black pan
She stirred my soul when she made her roux
I got a taste of her catfish stew
I've got a secret fishing hole
And you got the right fishing pole
She said, when the fish is bitin', boy, you can't be late
Come on pretty boy, don't you hesitate
No matter what I say, or what I do
She got me hooked on her catfish stew, yeah, on her catfish stew
ย
From a Louisiana woman to a Mississippi man
I melted like butter when she held my hand
She stirred my soul when she made her roux
I can't get enough of her catfish stew, hey, y'all, catfish stew
