Lyrics

Have you heard of the feathered fox? Have you looked into it's eyes? I didn't think so, didn't hope so, yes I know so The featherfox would not leave you unharmed I breathe with the slow beat of a drum Hooves on the earth as the riders come I hear the tongues of the weary and numb Who've seen the feathered fox and succumb Running, howling, searching, screaming Rumbling, scowling, growling, scheming Barricade the doors and lock them tight Featherfox, Featherfox— Are they right? A tale of the town, just a whisper, they say The rumbling of doom where the lanterns don't sway Words have flown and twisted like smoke in the fray Hysteria and panic won't chase it away The merchants cry, "Come buy your charms!" "A featherfox ward for your home and your barn!" "Silver-lined daggers, a candle, a prayer," "For the beast in the thicket, be wary, beware!" I breathe with the slow beat of a drum Hooves on the earth as the riders come I hear the tongues of the weary and numb Who've seen the feathered fox and succumb Running, howling, searching, screaming Rumbling, scowling, growling, scheming Barricade the doors and lock them tight Featherfox, Featherfox— Are they right? It lingers in hollows, muddy and low Slipping like mist where the cold winds blow But I caught a glimpse in the moon's soft glow— She's only a kit with a heart unknown She's gentle, she longs for a game to play A chase through the brambles, a dance in the hay Something wilder, something bright Maybe she longs for a friend tonight Running, howling, searching, screaming Rumbling, scowling, growling, scheming Barricade the doors and lock them tight Featherfox, Featherfox— You'll be alright
