Blackeyed Blonde

The lyrics portray a woman as striking, exciting, and dangerous to underestimate. The speaker first presents her as part of the lively, dreamlike world of New Orleans, then warns a young man to keep his distance. Stories of men who thought they were tough but were defeated make the warning playful and exaggerated rather than gentle or romantic.

Several images create this larger-than-life character. Calling her “built like a bomb” suggests explosive energy and danger, not a literal bomb. “She’ll clean your clock” is an informal expression meaning she will beat or outsmart someone. The references to a bayou, a swamp, and a spy who finds a diamond turn the song into a comic adventure, where even a famous fictional secret agent cannot handle her.

The lyrics mix admiration with mock alarm, using bold, sometimes crude sexual language to make the woman seem powerful and provocative. The repeated description of her as “blackeyed” and blonde may refer to her appearance, but the song does not explain the phrase fully, so its exact significance is unclear. Overall, she may be read as a fantasy figure: glamorous and formidable, but also presented through a swaggering, exaggerated male voice.
