Been working too hard for way too little, way too long
Got the working man blues, my life feels like a damned old country song
Boss man's been riding my ass, like a worn out rented mule
Come a long Friday, 5 o'clock, tell you what I'm gonna do
ย
Gonna get stoned, gonna get high
Forget about it all for a little while
I've waited all week, there ain't no time for sleeping
Gonna turn it up, gonna get down
Gonna blow the doors off of this whole town
I got a "take this job and shove it" kinda' feeling
It's the weekend
ย
Monday morning, running late, doing 50 in a 35
Next thing I knew, in my rearview, they were red and blue flashing lights
Tuesday, the rent came due, and Wednesday worked overtime
Thursday means just 24 hours, 'till I know that I'm
ย
Gonna get stoned, gonna get high
Forget about it all for a little while
I've waited all week, there ain't no time for sleeping
Gonna turn it up, gonna get down
Gonna blow the doors off of this whole town
I got a "take this job and shove it" kinda' feeling
It's the weekend
ย
Five days a week, I'm up and on my feet
Working so hard, it's a sin
Right now I got a cold beer, and a lawn chair
Hanging out with my rowdy friends
ย
We're gonna get stoned, gonna get high
Forget about it all for a little while
Waited all week, there ain't no time for sleeping
Gonna turn it up, gonna get down
Gonna blow the doors off of this whole town
I got a "take this job and shove it" kinda' feeling
I got a "take this job and shove it" kinda feeling
Oh, it's the weekend
God bless the weekend
