Satpal Ram has been in prison for ten years
Unjustly convicted of murder
He was attacked by a gang of six racists
And after being glassed in the face and stabbed
Had no choice but to defend himself
One of his attackers died after refusing medical treatment
Satpal was subsequently charged with his murder
Satpal was provided with lawyers who refused to argue his case
They made him plead manslaughter instead of self defence
Vital evidence from defence witnesses was not understood
By the all-white jury, as no interpreter was provided
The judge said he'd interpret but couldn't speak a word of Bengali
The jury were not asked to consider if
Satpal's actions were in self defence
And found him guilty
It's taken a decade to force the criminal
Justice system to allow an appeal
Enough is enough
