He kept me, I'm still here
I done slept with tears dried on my face
Praying to a God I ain't even think would stay
Foster homes, cold nights, no safe place
Hard to be, but the world play games
They said you're strong, but they feel this pain
Smiling outside, but inside, it rains
Gave my last when I had no change
Still got crossed, still got blamed
I was locked up, feeling locked in life
Trying to find peace, but I'm losing fight
Homeless nights, just me and my thoughts
Ask God why, but he never talked
But somehow I made it out them dark days
Even when I felt so far away, I was breaking
But getting brave
I didn't break, I beat, I cried
I lost myself, but still survived
Through every storm, I stayed alive
God kept me when I lost my mind
I didn't fall, I didn't fall
Even when I had nothing at all
They counted me out, but I stood tall
God held me through it all
Single mama, babies watching me
Had to be strong, they depend on me
Didn't have help, didn't have a team
Just me and faith in a broken dream
People I love had hidden motives
Smile in my face, but hearts was cold
Play with my heart like I ain't noticed
But I kept leaving that how I'm moulded
Tried to do it all on my own
Kept falling down, felt so alone
Then I heard her just leave it to me
That's when God started carrying me
I was tired of fighting battles alone
Try to carry what in mind you hold
That's when I finally let go
I didn't break, I beat, I cried
I lost myself, but still survived
Through every storm, I stayed alive
God kept me when I lost my mind
I didn't fall, I didn't fall
Even when I had nothing at all
They counted me out, but I stood tall
God held me through it all
If you see me now, just know I beat the fire
Every tear I cried just took me higher
I was down, bad, I was tired
But God said, Get up, I'm your provider
I ain't perfect, I'm just chosen (chosen)
Every spot got purpose woven (woven)
Yeah, we're tried, but I kept going
What was broken, God restored it
I feel like Him, after all of us fulfilled
God held me close
Wipe my tears
Now I see why
I'm still here
I didn't break, I became
Everything they said I couldn't be, I changed
Through the hurt, through the pain
God made a way
