Long lay the world 'neath the darkness of night
Sorrow and misery was her plight
But the little baby born on Christmas Day
Came to chase the shadows away
Just as the prophets had promised before
He came proclaiming the year of the Lord
Deaf ears were opened, and the blind made to see
Liberty promised to all who believed
Got to go tell everyone
Tell them the Savior has come
Evil is defeated and the victory's been won
Go and tell everyone
We've been commissioned to carry the flame
And given the power to go His name
We have the message the hurting must hear
There's no time to waste, His coming is near
Got to go tell everyone
Tell them the Savior has come
Evil is defeated and the victory's been won
Go and tell everyone
Still darkness hides in the corners of the world
Brothers are struggling beneath heavy loads
How can we stay where the light has come?
Jesus is calling us, calling us to go
Go tell everyone
Tell them the Savior has come
Evil is defeated and the victory's been won
Go tell everyone
Well, evil is defeated and the victory's been won
Got to go tell everyone
Go tell everyone
