The lyrics describe a confident speaker pursuing someone she finds attractive. At first, she openly says she wants his attention and asks him to make a move. The mood is playful and assertive, then becomes more openly affectionate as the two exchange numbers and she imagines a closer relationship. The repeated chorus keeps the focus on desire and spending the night together.

“Rock you” is a suggestive phrase here: it can mean dancing or moving together, but in context it also hints at physical intimacy. Calling the desired relationship “gangsta love” seems to give it a bold, tough, streetwise flavor; it does not necessarily describe a criminal life. “On my short list” means he is one of a small number of people she is considering, while “frontin’” means pretending or acting as if he is not interested.
