Hey Yo, wud up Kon, it's your boy Psya out here
Man, I was just wondering what's this Musiconomics all about
Oh man, hey yo this one's too complicated
This shit is deeper than rap man
But Imma school y'all on a Lil bit of Musiconomics, ok
Lemme break it down for ya
When I put out a whole Album or a Collab or a Single
Either you can like it or you can show a middle finger
But rather than talking about what's in the track, what's not
What part is hot, what part is not, y'all got a crazy-ass agenda
And you'd be telling me to stick to my mother tongue
That's like telling me I can't be gay, I can't fuck with the male gender
An Indie, who is Indian but doesn't rap in Hindi
That English shit won't work, I have been told I should just surrender
Or maybe natural is a word all of y'all don't remember
My slogan art straight from the heart says it all
I put it everywhere, even in the bio of my Tinder
A healthy heart disease, suffering from it for fuckin' 10 years
This genre is so flexible, sometimes I like to bend her
Songs like PPFK & Synthetic Doppelganger
That shit ain't marketable & I know that's not a banger
I have been listening to a lotta Pop & I know what's a banger
I say leave me alone for a minute
Time to be real, I think it's time to be brutally honest
I say leave me alone for a minute
Musiconomics, I just hope I don't sound like a comic
I say leave me alone for a minute
Lemme take out some Skeletons out the closet
I say leave me alone for a minute
I won't sell my soul for riches, that's a promise
I say the thrill is gone, I say the thrill is gone away
Surprisingly predictable artistry everywhere
Artistic freedom still around but you don't wanna play
Coz deep down in your heart you know what you gonna say
If that ain't what the audience is expecting to hear
Then that ain't even worth it boy, fuck your Rap career
You can't experiment no more, afraid of what you might spit
Figuring out on your own what is wack and what is lit
It gotta be Trending or Flashy or Catchy or Tacky
Find out what Genre is popping, then write you shit to match it
Coz if it don't make Dollars, then it don't make no sense
This generation think that Art & Money synonyms
I see you faking it, coz you're not true to your heart
Fuck demand & supply patterns, just stay true to your art
Music was all about feelings, now about numbers & charts
For the love of art, this lucrative business needs to stop
I say leave me alone for a minute
Time to be real, I think it's time to be brutally honest
I say leave me alone for a minute
Musiconomics, I just hope I don't sound like a comic
I say leave me alone for a minute
Lemme take out some Skeletons out the closet
I say leave me alone for a minute
I won't sell my soul for riches, that's a promise
Yeah, yeah, yeah
This is a fucked up situation, Nah mean
It ain't about the art nomore
There used to be a connection between one's art & one's heart
Now there is a connection between one's art & one's mind
Coz money is involved
It ain't about feelings no more
It's about who can make more money
It's like just another business
Authenticity & originality is gone
Music lovers used to follow the artist
Now the artist is following these music lovers
It's not for everybody out there though
But most of them are like that
My message is a tricky one
Psychedelic as usual
I hope you'll get it
