Lyrics

On a cold and rainy evening in 1862 Young men walked the muddy road towards the boys in blue Their thoughts were of their loved ones they had left so far away For tomorrow they would stand and fight for their beloved gray As the morning came a misty rain was still falling down And smoke from the guns of the battle hovered all around Throughout the day the battle raged as both sides made the call And by the time the day was over many good men would fall The battle lines were drawn along a broken down fence row From a ridge above the youth could see the fighting down below The rebel forces moved along the left flank of the line And by afternoon the Federals were pushed down the mountain side But by later on that evening Union ranks began to grow And the rebel troops were forced to withdraw from that old fence row They stood and fought so gallantly but lost this one you see For on this day the Lord had sided with their enemy Now as the fight came to an end the death toll made its climb Men from both sides lost their lives in such a short time For many this would be the first and last fight they would know For they fought the bloody battle known as Logan's Cross Road
