Yeah
Muffled voices talking loud
Been talking to myself like "what the fuck they talking 'bout"
And you can tell who struggled when the teacher called them out
More talking on the low, these niggas scared to talk aloud
Faced problems on the road, I saw them try to walk around
But when they finally get around them I'll be lost in the mirage
But aren't we all chasing something? I'll be damned if I slow down
When my life was throwing curves, my biggest fears was on the mound
Cut the dramatics out, what matters is who want it more
I live up to my name I'm fighting battles and internal wars
I do not play this game to get pats on my back or earn awards
Anxiety been... I need to meditate and journal more
My vision don't align with helping white men reach they bottom line
To wake up chugging coffee just to make it through my 9 to 5
From here on out I'm done with waiting round, I can't waste the time
This mountain I'm facing, fuck it if it ain't safe to climb
I'm destined for greatness I'm
My dawg
The realest niggas that I know
Tell me what I need to hear, especially when I need it most
And remind me where I've been when there's still so much left to go
I'll forever keep 'em close
From foggy garages and water bottles
The bongs was numbing our tolerances
And sitting arguing over who prolly starting with kids first
Years later, Brandon and Roddy fathers and shit
And knowing them without a doubt they sons and daughters is set
I reflect on them days
Jordan 4s, Nike Techs
Hoop dreams, training camps, getting cut, I'm upset
Fuck the coach, writing bars in my notes
Holding them back from the world
Dom was like, "Bro let's go, you up next!"
Man every morning we would link
At the breakfast tables before our classes
4 tardies each, if the bell start ringing we hauling ass
Some kids behind us was knocking pencils freestyling
I would just listen close like if I start spitting, I'm running laps
Around these niggas, but too afraid of my own potential
One day some kid pointed at me like "G we heard you rap!"
Heard Dom say "he nice too!", I'm not ready
My palms sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy
Said fuck it, got up out my seat and heard the
1,2, 1,2
Suddenly the silence filled the lunch room
I said, "um... My name is Gihad, flow the nicest
They say I'm bound to blow but keep it low they'll think I'm ISIS
Uh, driven but still don't got my license
And y'all ain't seeing son like working night shifts
Long nights just turn to days, I can't tell, I work a life shift
It's just a matter of time
Y'all bound to see just how my life shifts"
Shit, the bell ringing bro lets go!
I got like 3 tardies already if I get detention one more time
My pops said he's taking my phone for a month!
Hurry up bruh!
Hurry up!
