I used to think that he
Was the toughest S.O.B. next to John Wayne
On his Caterpillar seat
Steady turnin' dirt damn near all day
His hands were all calloused up
That leather saddle tough
You could knock him down, he gets back up
And he ain't from Texas
And he don't rope and ride
But he's wide open reckless
Never runs from a fight
They don't give out buckles or ribbons
For the kind of outlaw livin' that he did
My old man ain't from Texas
But I'd say he is just about as cowboy as it gets
He didn't wear a Stetson hat
Just an old snapback from a cool off
Hell, he's never been on a bull
There's been a bunch of times he's been throwed off
His horse was a Ford with a dent in the door
He's a red-man tailgate troubadour
Nah, he ain't from Texas
He don't rope and ride
But he's wide open reckless
Never runs from a fight
They don't give out buckles or ribbons
For the kind of outlaw livin' he did
My old man ain't from Texas
But I'd say he is just about as cowboy as it gets
Nah, he ain't Eastwood or Wyatt Earp
Or Quigley or Billy the Kid
And he ain't from Texas
And he don't rope and ride
But he's wide open reckless
Never runs from a fight
They don't give out buckles or ribbons
For the kind of outlaw livin' he did, he did
My old man ain't from Texas
But I'd say he is, yeah
Just about as cowboy as it gets
As cowboy as it gets (cowboy)
I used to think that he
Was the toughest S.O.B. next to John Wayne
