Vamos

The lyrics imagine a comfortable future discussed by the speaker and their sister: a good life in New Jersey, money, food, children, and social respectability. The mood is playful and buoyant, but the repeated promise of a perfect family life also sounds a little exaggerated, as if the speaker is trying on a conventional dream rather than presenting a serious plan.

Several images build that dream: “well fed” suggests material comfort, while “your daddy’s rich” and “your mamma’s a pretty thing” describe a family judged by wealth and appearance. The maid Maria is called “really okay,” a casual phrase that makes her sound like one more detail in this ideal household. The Spanish refrain means “Let’s go play on the beach”; its repetition shifts the focus from status and family plans to a simple, carefree pleasure.

The song mixes English and Spanish without explaining the change, which gives the refrain a different, almost chant-like feel. The line about friends “looking like lesbians” is odd and may be a joke or an intentionally loose observation; the lyrics do not clarify its point. Overall, the speaker may be celebrating a fantasy of ease, poking fun at social expectations, or doing both at once.
