Alligator Sky

The lyrics imagine someone being swept into a thrilling journey through space, while the speaker stays behind or feels left out. The repeated question, “Where was I?” suggests surprise and longing, but “I’m never letting go” expresses lasting care. The mood moves between awe, excitement, and a hint of sadness about not knowing what will happen next.

Space images turn the journey into an adventure: rockets blast off, stars collide, and the traveler looks down on towns from above. “Dip your toes in the galaxy” is a playful way to suggest trying something vast and unfamiliar, while “melting Milky Way” makes the universe seem like something you could taste. “Take your breath away” means to amaze or overwhelm someone, not literally stop them breathing.

The “alligator sky” is an unusual, imaginative phrase rather than a clearly defined place. It may represent a strange, exciting world created by imagination. The speaker’s feelings are also mixed: the journey is thrilling, yet “I’m scared to death that I’ll never be afraid” hints at wanting to feel wonder and risk again. Overall, the lyrics celebrate exploration while leaving open whether the voyage is literal, dreamlike, or a metaphor for change.
