Sometimes I think it's better not to try
To turn my back away, and close my eyes
To all the things that fight for my attention
I just neglect them
Sometimes I'd rather blame everyone else
For all the pain and misery I've felt
As if I didn't bring this on myself
I get so selfish
But you
Gladly carry weight you don't deserve
With a debt that you haven't earned
And yet you keep on going with a smile
You make me want to be better, and change my life
You make me wanna be happy, or at least try
To change my whole point of view, to face the worst and pull through
And still have hope in my eyes
I've got a long way to go, but I'll be alright
The road ahead is still rough, but I've changed my stride, and when I
Start to feel blue, I ask myself what you'd do
My shining star, my guiding light
Tired of playing the victim, all my life
I've never learned to take my own advice
A hypocrite, a coward and a pining fool, but you
Fight with everything left in your heart
Forced to finish fights you didn't start
And yet you keep your head up to the sky
You make me want to be better, and change my life
You make me wanna be happy, oh god I'm tryin'
To become somebody new, to go through hell and break through
Instead of pondering why
We got a long way to go, but I'm doing fine
The road ahead ain't so bad when you're by my side, oh I'm so
Lucky to be, where you are my baby
My shining star, my reason why
