Lyrics
I'm gonna tell you a story
You won't believe it's true
It really happened just the way
I'm a-telling it to you
A country boy in the army
Was given a three-day leave
But he was a thousand miles from home
And it was Christmas Eve
Well, he'd spent all his money on presents
Every cent that he had in this world
On a dress for his mom, a pipe for his dad
And a band of gold for his girl
The snow, it covered the highway
And not a car could get by
He stood there alone with no way to get home
Then he heard the jingle of bells in the sky
Well, he got home that evening
With eight reindeer pulling a sleigh
I know you won't believe me
But it happened just that way
For I was that boy in the army
Who got home for Christmas Day
