Little Saint Nick (1991 Remix)

The song presents Santa Claus as a cheerful, energetic figure preparing for Christmas. Its mood stays playful and excited, building from a familiar seasonal greeting into a lively picture of Santa racing through the snow, then returning to the simple message that Christmas comes every year.

Santa’s sleigh is described like a small, fast car: it has a gear stick, a bright red finish, and a “ski for a wheel.” These modern details make the traditional sleigh seem fun and speedy. “Watch her peel” is informal language suggesting that the sleigh takes off quickly. The reindeer lead the way, while Santa wears goggles because snow flies into his face as he travels.

The lyrics mix well-known Christmas imagery with playful invention, so the sleigh’s car-like features need not be taken literally. The song also says Santa visits every home and leaves a surprise, presenting him as generous and reliable. Overall, it seems less concerned with telling a detailed story than with creating a joyful, easy-to-sing celebration of Santa and the excitement of Christmas.
