Lyrics

I've heard the legends from days gone by When people speak of them you see a sparkle in their eye But in the times that we live in people come from near and far To see one of the greatests his name is Kauto Star The best chaser in the world As he jumps and as he stays Dominating all divisions and all others at the grade And on those golden days in March he came storming up the hill Winning two Gold Cups impressively, giving racing such a thrill And they're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star They're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star Last years racing season was not to be his time Third at Kempton and Cheltenham and pulled up in the emerald isle Some said after that year it was time to then retire But Ruby, Paul and Clive knew that to run was his desire So on clear November Saturday on the turf at Haydock Park Thousands they gathered with their hats, badges and scarves Kauto versus Long Run a close match up to be But it was Ruby who came out on top and went down in history And they're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star They're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star Christmas time at Kempton was the next chapter to be The drive for five King Georges and a place in history And as Kauto led them round the bend the festive crowd did roar Long Run came and joined him but the old boy, he found more And they're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star They're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star Kauto, Kauto Star Oh yeah Kauto, Kauto Star When that day comes when it's over We'll only then realise How privileged we have been to have the star shine in our eyes So cheer him home all the way up the hill so straight and long And we'll raise a glass to Kauto and together we'll sing along They're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star They're talking in the streets and they're talking in the bar But you'll never see the like of Ruby Walsh and Kauto Star
