Through Being Cool

The lyrics announce a rejection of “being cool,” replacing quiet conformity with aggressive action. The speakers sound like a group of outsiders who have had enough of people they see as foolish or obstructive. The repeated refrain gives their declaration a bold, almost rallying energy, while the violent language makes that confidence feel unsettling and possibly exaggerated.

Several phrases suggest more than their literal meaning. “Clean some house” means removing unwanted people or problems, though here the threat is pushed to an extreme. “Drive you nuts” is an informal way to say that someone makes you very irritated. The “young alien types” may be a playful image of people who seem strange or different from the crowd. Mentioning Picasso after “rearrange a face” links violence to art in an absurd, darkly comic way.

The lyrics can be heard as a rebellious fantasy, but they do not clearly explain whether the speakers’ anger is meant to be taken seriously. Their cartoonish insults and exaggerated threats may mock the idea that rejecting social rules automatically makes someone brave or admirable. The repeated chorus may express genuine defiance, while also making the group sound increasingly extreme.
