Have You Ever Seen The Rain

The lyrics describe a speaker noticing a difficult period that seems to have been building for a long time. They expect a storm, then wonder about rain falling on a sunny day. The repeated question gives the song a thoughtful, slightly unsettled feeling: the speaker is trying to understand a familiar cycle, rather than describing one clear event.

The “calm before the storm” suggests that a quiet moment may come before trouble. Rain on a sunny day is an unusual image that brings together happiness and sadness, or hardship and hope, at the same time. The lines about the sun being cold and the rain being hard make the world feel emotionally uncomfortable, as if ordinary things have lost their warmth.

The “circle” that continues “fast and slow” may suggest recurring changes that cannot be stopped. The lyrics do not explain exactly what the storm or rain stands for, so they can be understood literally as weather or metaphorically as life’s repeating difficulties. The sunny rain might be a strange but reassuring sign that difficult and bright experiences can exist together.
