Lyrics
I hate to see the evening sun go down
I hate to see the evening sun go down
'Cause my baby, he done left this town
Feelin' tomorrow like I feel today
Feelin' tomorrow like I feel today
I'll pack my trunk and make my get-away
St. Louis woman with a diamond pin
To hold that man I love by my apron string
To hide the powder of my strychnine
That man I love will just go nowhere
Oh, me
Got the St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be
That man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea
Or else he wouldn't have walked so far from me
Oh, but I know that man
Lord, it's true, I know he's mine
By the county coroner
Know he's me brother-in-law
Oh, Lord, I'll love my baby 'til the day I die
Got the St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be
That man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea
Or else he wouldn't have walked so far from me
