My! My! Time Flies!

The song celebrates how quickly time seems to pass, moving through a series of memorable moments and people. Its tone is playful and energetic, but the final verse becomes more reflective: a new day is coming, and the singer suggests leaving yesterday behind. The ending looks toward the future while admitting that its exact arrival is uncertain.

The repeated cry “Time flies” means that time passes quickly. Images of stepping onto the moon and then reaching for the stars make progress feel sudden and almost effortless, while the “one way ticket to Mars” playfully suggests that future travel may take people even farther. The apple falling on a man’s head hints at a famous story about discovery, and the symphony dated “1812” points to a work associated with that year. These quick references make history feel like a rapid sequence of snapshots.

The lyrics mix recognizable names and events with humorous or compressed descriptions, so not every reference is fully explained. “Let yesterday go” can mean accepting the past and looking ahead, rather than literally forgetting it. The final mention of “2010” may mark a hoped-for future point, but the song does not promise what will happen then. Overall, it balances excitement about human achievement with a gentle reminder that each moment quickly becomes part of the past.
