Run, run, run, run, run Colorado
Don't stop running til you reach the sea
You'll save your skin if you run Colorado
Don't you put your trust in humanity
He was a man called Colorado
And he came from the Middle West
Strong and quiet with a touch for healing
Shipped all his troubles where he knew best
He met a girl who thought and crazed him
He was a man who missed her life
And though he know her reputation
He said: "Girl would you be my wife"
Well, he was a man who shouldered her
He was aware where others would
And she loved him like she loved no man before
He took her to a preacher man
And said: "Love us marry if you can"
But the preacher shook his head
And said: "Run, run, run, run, run Colorado"
Don't stop running til you reach the sea
You'll save your skin if you run Colorado
Don't you put your trust in humanity
Nothing could change his revolution
So one fine day in that southern town
The bells rang out to call the people
To share in all the joy and the love he found
In the church the congregation
Waited while he hugged his babe
Out in the square men stopped Colorado
Said: "Sorry boy you're gonna be delayed"
He said: "My friends I tell you're wrong"
And what proof you have you don't belong
In this town man that bad girl is not for you
If you're not gone by the noon at three
We'll straighten you up from the nearest tree
And your weeping widow'll cry behind you
What you gonna do gonna run Colorado?
Are you gonna run till you reach the sea?
What you gonna do gonna run Colorado?
Are you gonna run till you reach the sea?
What you gonna do gonna run Colorado?
Will you still be along the shore still free?
