Sweetest Perfection

The speaker describes an experience or attachment that feels intensely pleasurable and uniquely satisfying. At first, they are cautious: they worry that caring too much or making contact could break a fragile “spell.” As the lyrics continue, that caution gives way to a feeling of being completely taken over, and the speaker insists that nothing else could replace what they have found.

The repeated words “infection” and “injection” compare this pleasure to something entering the body and mind, perhaps like a drug. This makes the experience seem both delightful and potentially consuming. “I want the real thing, not tokens” suggests that substitutes or small gestures are not enough; the speaker wants the full, genuine experience. “An assorted collection” may refer to other available choices, but the speaker says they would not trade what they have.

The lyrics do not clearly identify what the speaker is attached to. It could be a person, a desire, or another powerful source of pleasure, and the drug-like imagery may be figurative rather than literal. The speaker’s confidence that nothing can stop them sounds joyful, but it also hints at loss of control. That tension between sweetness and danger gives the song an uneasy edge.
