At this time, the young lady that needs no introduction
The young woman that made all of this possible tonight
I'd like for you to receive the first lady of music
Ms. Aretha Franklin
ย
Come on, let's hear it for her!
ย
And tonight, and tonight it's our pleasure
To present the man that made this one possible
Her father wh- Reverend C.L. Franklin of Detroit, Michigan
ย
At this time, we'd like to welcome down front
A young lady who certainly is a legend in her own time
And a young woman who is among many of the people
Who inspired this great singer tonight
And we thought tonight to honor her
By bringing her right down front
A young lady who is still very much deeply rooted in gospel
And I speak of none other than the famous Ms. Clara Ward
ย
One of the old hymns of the church
Kind to get us started tonight
And let me tell you somethin'
You only get out of it (well)
What you put in it
Ha-how many of you here
I know there are a lot of spectators
And a lot of folk that might not know anything about the lord
But how many of you here know something about him?
Let me see you hands (yeah, yeah)
Why don't you shake hands with somebody next to you
And say, "I know him"
ย
He's a good friend
A reason the choir sing, "What a friend, we have in Jesus"
