The stuff of life, the stuff of death
At least it helps me draw my breath
Prevent my end, prevent my rest
Keep trying, though there's nothing left
The spiral starts in fall, it was September
And even through it all, I still remember
Hard to breathe, closing, pardon me, frozen
Lying in bed, half alive and half dead
I go to see the doctor, ask him why
He said he knows and said that I should try
Wait
He was wrong, he says, the doctor got confused
He listed out the remedies, of which I couldn't choose
This went on for several weeks, I did my best
To keep up with medicine that would suppress
The growing, closing, tightening sensation
Inside of me, destroying motivation
Everything had side effects that kept
My vitals down, and in my spirit crept
The doubt and darkness searching
While my mind is still diverging
And urging
And surging
The stuff of life, the stuff of death
At least it helps me draw my breath
Prevent my end, prevent my rest
Keep trying, though there's nothing left
The stuff of life, the stuff of death
At least it helps me draw my breath
Prevent my end, prevent my rest
Keep trying, though there's nothing left
(I'm so shaky right now...)
(The doctors don't know what's wrong with me...)
(...stopping myself from dying...)
(...take more food to take my pill...)
(And then I had to do the rinse, which was horrible...)
(...do a mask...)
(It made me a lot more shaky than usual...)
(...it was my last one...)
(And it, like, made my voice shaky
Which hasn't happened before...)
(...now I'm pissed.)
(That's all.)
(That was a lot.)
Am I the problem, everyone?
It feels like I'm the only one
They all move on, but I can't change
I'll write my thoughts and burn the page
It looks like they're all doing something
Worth it while I'm sitting stuck
Inside my head, I wonder what I
Should've said, the past regrets I
Can't escape from, every day
Someone will try to take creation
Leave me here all by myself
I'm all alone, beside my health
I've been the one to make it all
But not a soul will even call
My name and stay with me while I
Am writing my own path for life
After nine long months, it seems it's done
Appointments now to meet someone
Who knows what's wrong and can help me
Finish the song and help me breathe
But no
He said the same thing as everyone else
The stuff of life, the stuff of death
At least it helps me draw my breath
Prevent my end, prevent my rest
Keep trying, though there's nothing left
