Stars

The speaker addresses someone who is far away and longs for a sign from them. Looking at the stars becomes a way to feel connected across that distance. The mood is tender and hopeful, but there is also sadness: the speaker waits for the loved one to return, while accepting that this may not happen soon.

The stars are more than lights in the sky here. The speaker imagines they might carry a message, asking what they “say” and how brightly they shine. The wish for the person to “come down” from above suggests that the loved one is imagined as being in heaven or somewhere beyond reach. Calling them an “angel from the universe” makes the person seem precious and almost otherworldly.

The lyrics do not explain why the loved one is absent, so more than one reading is possible. They may be grieving someone who has died, or speaking to someone separated from them in another way. The words “from above” and “always pray” support a spiritual reading, but they do not settle the question. In either case, the speaker’s devotion is clear: hope and love continue even when direct contact seems impossible.
