Lyrics
The party had just started
A gathering of the best
Rudely interrupted by an uninvited guest
We all went home and stayed there
Until told that we could leave
But a spirit caught in lockdown
Is a spirit that's still free
The guest outstayed its welcome
While we waited til it passed
The Cadillac was parked
But it was never out of gas
His guitar kept on playing
Didn't matter about the key
Because a spirit caught in lockdown
Is a spirit that's still free
For months I've been waiting
To get back out on the road
It's the spirit of the bluesman
At the crossroads in the night
Gonna play... All night
The time in hiding taught us
More respect for what we got
The blues came deep inside us
To show us what we'd lost
We found our way in music
Now we got to let them see
That a spirit caught in lockdown
Is a spirit that's still free
Yeahhh a spirit caught in lockdown
Is a spirit that's still free
Oh, I said a spirit caught in lockdown
Is a spirit that's still free
