Citizen Of The Planet

The lyrics describe a speaker whose sense of home grows beyond one country. Moving away, returning, and then traveling again bring excitement as well as disorientation. At first, leaving home means separation; later, the speaker feels that belonging can include many places and people. The emotional movement is from rooted beginnings toward curiosity, openness, and a lively sense of connection.

Several images express this widening outlook. “Cut the cord of home” suggests breaking away from familiar ties, while “new ground” makes travel sound like both a literal journey and a personal beginning. Calling herself “a citizen of the planet” presents identity as larger than national borders. “Threads sewn straight through this fabric” pictures different cultures as strands in one shared world. The phrase “edge-stretching” suggests deliberately moving beyond what feels comfortable.

The song’s broad claims seem hopeful, but some lines remain open to interpretation. “My laws are all of attraction” and “my punishments are consequences” may express a personal belief that choices and their results matter more than imposed rules. “Separating from source” could refer to feeling cut off from a deeper spiritual origin, though the lyrics do not define that source. Overall, the speaker’s global belonging appears empowering, while the repeated movement and blurred years hint that finding one’s place is still an ongoing process.
