Close Your Eyes

The lyrics describe a person asking for closeness and reassurance from a loved one. The repeated requests to hear “I love you” suggest strong affection, but also worry that the feelings may not be fully returned. The mood shifts from hopeful comfort—“Everything’s going to be alright”—to a more vulnerable acceptance that the relationship is not as the speaker wishes.

Closing the eyes and taking a deep breath may suggest pausing, calming down, or preparing to face a difficult truth. “Don’t say goodnight” and “never let me go” express a wish to prolong the moment and avoid separation.
