The songs on that record kinda took a different turn as well
As far as what you're writing about. Just reading the song
Titles: "What About the Love," "Shadows," "Faithless Hearts
" What, you know, was the catalyst for that turn? Not that
They were depressing songs, but, you know, they were
Certainly different than, than Unguarded, the last record
Right, just more thoughtful, sure. Right. You know, if life is lived
In cycles, it was probably my, my first adult cycle of really hard
Times, emotionally and spiritually, the year before that. And I
Think coming out of that kind of regrouping, those songs came out
Of it. Everything has its season. I remember by the time I finished
Touring Lead Me On, you know, I was just going, "Argh, can the whole
World lighten up, please?" You know? If I have to take one more
Picture with a pensive face, I'm gonna jump off a high ledge. And I
Think, in that same way, Heart in Motion followed Lead Me On. You
Know, everything is kind of a reaction to what came before. Or maybe
It's not a reaction, it's just whatever the next step is, you know?
I think if we let it, good choices and bad choices direct our paths
Both in a helpful way. And so I feel like, in some ways, Lead Me On
Was my own personal recovery and processing of good lessons learned
