Do you know, long ago
Man couldn't play all about
And you know, it happen so
Man start to play with dem mouth
Man playing six piece with dem mouth
Man beating iron with dem mouth
A lickety, lickety, lickety
Mouth ringing out like tenor pan
Bawling out like guitar pan
Mouth causing a big sensation
When they say, not to play
Big confusion in the land
The next day, man disobey
And mouth start playing like a band
Man playing timbale with dem mouth
Playing mad scat with dem mouth
Mouth pan orchestra they having
Mouth panorama they going
And it have everybody jumping
On the street, music sweet
And they came out for jouvert
When the beat got to their feet
Everybody want to play
Man taking solo with dem mouth
Man keeping tempo with dem mouth
Man arranging tune with dem mouth
Man tuning cello with dem mouth
And oh how sweet dem notes ran out
Hear the mouth pan
Hear the tenor
Hear the guitar
Oh, they jamming
Yes, they jamming
So at last, came to pass
It had effect for the queen
And all the brass, stood up aghast
When the music intervene
Man syncopating with dem mouth
Man harmonizing with dem mouth
Man went in front of majesty
To play a mouth pan melody
And it made the governor happy
Hear the mouth pan
