Pictured Life

The lyrics move between bright, pleasant days and dark nights that feel mentally confining. In the darkness, the speaker turns inward through meditation and dreams; a “stream of light” begins to flow deep inside. The repeated return to “pictured life from yesterday” suggests that the past remains vivid, though the speaker’s feelings about it are not fully explained.

Several images make this inner experience feel physical. A “crystal ball” suggests seeing hidden things or glimpsing what cannot normally be seen. “Crow-black” nights use the color and image of a crow to create a sense of gloom, while being “behind the wall” implies separation or feeling trapped. The repeated journey “into the rock” sounds like an attempt to push through hard barriers and reach something valuable; “the cream” may mean the best or richest part of an experience.

The lyrics are dreamlike rather than a clear story, so these images can support more than one reading. “Pictured life” might mean memories replaying in the mind, or a past life imagined through dreams. The movement from darkness toward inner light suggests hope or discovery, but the speaker still returns to yesterday, leaving open whether the past is comforting, troubling, or both.
