Troublemaker

The lyrics describe a speaker caught in an exciting but painful relationship. He feels strongly attracted to the woman, yet believes she is bad for him. Several images express this conflict. Being “putty in your hands” means feeling easy for someone else to control. The woman is also said to be “stuck in my brain,” suggesting that thoughts of her are hard to escape. Calling her touch “poison” is not literal: it presents the attraction as harmful, while also admitting that he keeps returning for more. “Giving me a heart attack” is an exaggeration for intense emotional excitement or distress.

The song’s playful, energetic language makes the relationship sound thrilling as well as unhealthy. The speaker labels the woman a “troublemaker,” but he also recognizes his own part in repeating the pattern: he says he expects things to change, yet keeps coming back.
