It's Christmas in the big city
I've got the country blues
The lights here sure are pretty
It's not like the Christmas we once knew
I'm here with no money
I'm here without you
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
I went down to the big store
To look at the Christmas display
But looking is all I came for
It's been a month since I've had any pay
I saw this big old toboggan
Like yours that we used to use
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
Well those country Christmases
That we once had
Once made me happy
Now just makes me sad
I'd turn the clock back
If it were mine to choose
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
ย
Christmas in the old farmhouse
We had nothing but we had it all
We'd go sliding or skating or skiing
Or just throwing snowballs
But here it's grey and you've got to pay
For anything you wanna do
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
Now Christmas has me looking back
On the mess I made this year
I said we had to move uptown
For the sake of my career
And now you've had enough of all that stuff
Going back to the life we knew
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
Well those country Christmases
That we once knew
Once made me happy
Now just makes me blue
I'd turn the clock back
If it were mine to choose
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
Stuck here in the big city
With the country Christmas blues
