Lyrics
The room is buzzing
Alarm bells chime
The rumour factory's working overtime
They make their judgements
Before the crime
The rumour factory's working overtime
Well, Vic heard it from Marlene
She heard it from Sue
Sue read it in the Sunday paper
So it must be true
There is no virtue
Just grease and grime
When the rumour factory's working overtime
Feelings never matter
And no-one asks for proof
What starts the day as guesswork
Goes to bed as truth
The reputation's crashed out
Circulation's flat
And the rumour factory's working overtime
The rumour factory's working overtime
The rumour factory's working overtime
