I was sitting at the bar, in my favorite café (Annie Mae's)
Oh, when a stranger, oh, he came walking my way, yes, he did
He said, "Do you mind if I sit down next to you?"
He started talking about his woman
What I was hearing, I was hoping it wasn't true
But when he kept on talking, I knew it was no maybe
That his old lady and my old lady
Oh, she was the same lady
Oh, yeah, she was
He said she had a sister, and she was fine as could be
And her sister's name, oh, her sister's name was Christen
Oh, no, here's the part that hurt me though
And Milton Junior, was the name of her baby
And her mother's name just happened to be Sadie
Well, I knew right there that this was no maybe
His old lady and my old lady
She was the same lady, oh, yeah
He said her loving was the best he ever had
Deep down in my heart, oh, I felt so sad
He said she did things to him that would blow my mind
And that's when the tears started falling from my eyes
I got up from the bar, walked out the door
Got in and drove off in my car
Oh, I drove around and cried all night long
I wondered why my baby would do me wrong
I didn't want to hear her lies and alibi
I didn't even bother to tell her goodbye
'Cause what I knew, oh, was driving me crazy
His old lady and my old lady
Oh, she was the same lady
Oh, yeah, she was
I wonder why, why my baby would do me wrong
I did my best, oh, Lord, yeah
To give the woman a good home
But I have to admit, oh, that I still love her so, oh, yeah
But knowing what I know right now
I just can't stay there no more
His old lady and my old lady
His old lady and my old lady
