I made a mistake
I mixed up the numbers
I swung too late
I hurt my friend
My project didn't turn out great

I feel overwhelmed I feel ashamed
I want to find someone else to blame

When I'm practicing a skill
Or learning something new
At the desk on the field

My brain may tell me I just don't know
but this is my chance to learn and grow
I retrace my steps and practice more
And do things I couldn't do before
For anything I want to be
Mistakes are part of my journey

As I grow to be a truer version of me
I make mistakes with values like kindness or honesty
My brain may tell me that I'm the worst
But mistakes do not define my worth
I recognise what I did or said
And make a plan to move ahead

As I try to be a friend
Sometimes I don't listen or share
Sometimes I offend
My brain may tell me It's too tough
Or that I'm not good enough
But I can try to see it through their eyes
own my part and apologize
